I need the assistance of those shooting either the 375 H&H or the 375 RUM in choosing a scope for my new aquisition which will be shooting 260 grain AccuBonds @ 3000+ fps. I come to the conclusion that the glass needs to be Leupold for the weight and eye relief and must be no more than a 40 mm objective unless its a VX-L which I'm not fond of. Right now I'm debating the VXII 2-7 , VXII 3-9 , VXIII 2.5-8 or VXIII 3.5-10. Just to complicate things what reticle....standard duplex or LR Duplex or the Boone & Crockett. This gun is easily capable out to 400 yards.

Please help!

have a VXIII 2.5-8x36mm on my .375H&H

great scope. would consider a 1-5x20mm as well or a fixed 4x. even at 400yrds a 4x scope will work fine with the size of game a .375 is suitable for.

Anything in the VX11 or 111 will take everything the 375 s are capable of dishing out, recoil wise, so that is not an issue, eye relief is more than adequate as well, so again not an issue.
The real debate is power of optics, and this is mostly going to be dictated by your hunting style and the type of terrain you hunt in. For open spaces where longer shots are common the higher power scopes have the advantage of helping 1 see what the quarry is as well as what is behind and around it, in close bush high magnification scopes are a real poor choice. I have 2x7s on a couple of bush type rifles and have been very satisfied with the results, if a mix in hunting types is the option, then a 3x9 or 3.5x10 may be a better option as you have both types of hunting covered.
No experience with the B&C reticle, sorry can not help there.

Though not the same caliber I have a 338 RUM with a VXIII 4.5-14 X 50 LR with Boone and Crockett reticle and the reticle works well out to the 500 yard mark it is calibrated for. The only thing is that at 500 yards I am shooting about 5 inches higher than the reticle's aiming point, not too bad by my standards. The VXIII has really long eye relief, about 4 inches, which was one of the reasons I bought it for this rifle. I can bang the gongs at our range at 200, 300 and 400 yards in a row very quickly with B&C reticle, of course the 200 yard gong sometimes flies right out of the chains holding it.
