I'm looking to buy a repro side mount and some scope on E-bay.

Do I need to drill the receiver ?

Will they fit on an Hex receiver ?

Thanks !

It would be a great same to ruin a nice early conversion of a dragoon by trying to fit a scope to it. You need a Pem scope and mounts (rare and expensive), you can get repros in the USA and by the time you get everything fitted out, you can probably buy an original PU Sniper for the same amount of money.

What Jean said

If you MUST do a repro sniper, go the PU route (WAY cheaper) and for that you'll need a circa 1942-1944 high wall receiver, not a low wall or hex like yours.

Please don't bubba that 1921 Izzy........ :?

Not to worry, that's why I'm asking first.

I would never bubba anything, quite the opposite.

I tend to restore them back. I have a nice $600 Lee Enfield No 4 Mk 1 that will testify on my behalf

Ok thanks for the info guys.

Let me guess. These high-walls are rare and expensive and next to impossible to get ?

No quite common and sometimes Snipers that where retro-fitted back to infantry rifles can be found also. I sold one a few years ago myself.

I found one two year ago like this, I was thinking of re-snipering it but finally gave into the pressure and traded it to another gunnut for a normal 91/30 and an enfield 1MkIII* :) It was then re-snipered and placed in a laminate stock, pictures are posted here somewhere
