Scoping a Brno Mod. 2

It is a bit of an issue with the Brno, CZ Models, they have 3 different dove tails.
I have a EGW 80928 Mount. It is for a CZ 527 16mm.
It works great after you file the recoil barb on the one clamp.
I also have a set of rings, I think they could be Burris ring that fit the 16mm dove tail. I also had to file off the barb to make them work.

CZ 527 rings will work. I have them on my #4. Same receiver as a #2.
Is what I did on my BRNO No. 1 - made in 1955 - it had 16 mm dovetails as well - had to unscrew the recoil lug screw from a Warne ring - recoil screw not used on the BRNO. Warne Maxima 2B1LM for 1" scope body - that is "high" height - needed that for clearance of bolt handle to eye piece. Warne Maxima 1B1LM for 1" scope body - that is "medium" height - clearances front end of scope to barrel easily, but the bolt handle hit the scope's eye piece - would have to get the bolt handle and stock inletting altered to use that "medium" height Warne ring.

I am quite sure the various CZ 452 here have got both 11 mm and also 3/8" dovetails - was a posting/ thread on Rimfire Central, also on CGN, about how/where to measure to know which that you have. Basically Europeans measure the dovetail width at the widest part of it - on top, whereas North Americans want to measure the narrowest width - at the bottom of the dovetail - where the cutter tips would be. Is also different side slope angles between a European versus a North American dovetail 60 degrees versus 45 degrees - and there will be some that do not care about such minutia.

I seem to spend way too much time looking for oddball scope rings in weird dovetail sizes. CZ and Brno in particular like to make it challenging by using several different widths on various models in their line-ups; what's up with that?

Airgun Source in Peterborough Ontario carries a good selection of Sports Match rings designed for assorted dovetail sizes, and their website does a decent job of explaining the different sizes and helping you figure out what you need. The Sports Match rings are alloy, not steel, but they definitely have a better-quality "feel" to them than many low-grade alloy rings and have become my first choice for dovetails on CZ, Brno, Tikka and many others. Most of them come with removable recoil lugs that either fit directly into the various slots and holes and other recesses on the dovetails of many centerfire and air rifles, or can be made to fit with a bit of judicious grinding, filing and/or squeezing. For rimfires the recoil pins are easily removed.

I've also noticed that standard Talley rings seem to fit very nicely on the 14.5mm dovetail on one of my Brno rifles; I don't use them on it because they lack a recoil lug and there is no easy easy way to add one, but on a rimfire (where no recoil lug is needed) they might fit the bill for you.

I did the same, filed the barb off and it fit perfect.
