Scoping my black rifle

I posted this in the black rifle section and nobody seemed to want to talk about optics!

I want to scope my Stag middie 16". I am looking to spend less than $400.
The less I spend the more I shoot...

I shoot at Burlington Rifle and Revolver, which is 50 yards indoor so I need a variable power magnified optic I think. I want to know what you guys think I should be looking at and also what rings to go with. I would prefer not to have to buy expensive rings that I have to order and ####.

Please help me.

Oh yeah I am mounting on a flattop upper and I am also going to have a 12' once I can get around to buying it and getting that installed. I dont know if this matters as far as scoping but I am a newb and I have learned that things I think dont matter usually do....;)

hmmmm for 400 or less..a Used Eotech or Aimpoint

or a Bushnell 3200 10X

I already have an Eotech.
I need something that is VARIABLE POWER as I shoot 50yds or less indoor quite a bit. I want magnified optics, so please dont tell me Aimpoint or Eotech, although I do appreciate the suggestions. ;)

This gun is going to be my 'urban sniper/ zombie gun'. I think it will look badassed with the 16" barrel and the 12" railer forearm/ magnified optic

I'm kinda confused why you think you need magnification for 50 yards?

Why do dogs lick their balls?;)

I have an Eotech and I want a magnified scope to see if I cant get more accuracy. I shoot out to 200 yards as well so I want one that I can dial down indoors and zoom in outside.

Would a fixed 4X scope meet your needs? Something
like a Leupold 58550 or 58530?
For a variable, the Leupold 56700 or 56730 might do.
Do a Web search on the above part numbers, and see
if the descriptions match what you need. Or, ask your
local dealer if he has them in stock, so you can look
at them yourself.
What kind of scope base do you have? That will affect
what kind of rings you should get.
I don't recommend getting cheap rings. They can be a
weak link in your final setup.
I personally bought Leupold 49853 rings for my scopes.
They were pricey, but I like the convenience. You might
not need that of course.

Those are all over $1000

Thats just one scope he was talking about, unless you were quoting some other suggestions.

For the 50 yards that BRRC offers you will be fine with irons. Since you only have a 16'' I don't really see why you need optics? Most people only put optics on 20" and 24" 's, but I do say that loosely. I'd get either an AimPoint or an EoTech which would be more than necessary for you. I'd invest in a good set of flip up sights (front and rear) and learn how to shoot with them. Then when you are good and ready, and you have the cash invest in something that you think will help you. If you want something good I'd save up your money and get something that you can use cross platform say if you ever want to get into long range bolt action shooting. IMHO for 50 yards or less you are wasting 400 bucks on a scope.

SO I guess I am SOL.

I looked at this site. SWFA.COM

There seems to be quite a few scopes on here that fall into the price range. US dollars are a bit of a pain but the Bushnell and Burris scopes seem pretty reasonable.

Noone has a very high opinion of these on this site it seems....

I guess I am just looking for validation I am not getting!!!

I wish you luck getting a Nikon with a MilDot reticle in Canada.,, and it would be well over your $400Cdn.

You should be able to pick up any number of Bushnell or Tasco variable for under $400Cdn, and any of those would work fine for what you ask for.

To get real glass,, you would be looking at $1000Cdn plus.

This is a link to a thread on Nikon in Cda (Monarchs should be avail with some of these guys listed,,)
