Im looking to put a scope on my 10/22 mag. The gun will be modified with barrel, trigger & new stock. It will be used for everything hunting, target & just plain plinking. My question is what size scope should I get a 4x16 with AO or go smaller. I just dont want to be over or under scoped for all Im going to do.

Tekman,
I have a 10/22 with volquartsen barrel, hogue stock, and tuned trigger. I use it for everything so I have gone with a weaver fixed 4 and I wouldn't change it. I have bigger scopes on more specialized .22s, but to do it all that is my scope of choice, I even prefer it to my 2 X 7 leupold rimfire.

Good luck, Homesteader

For all aroudn shooting, the 4-16 is IMHO, the best magnification range. 4 for hunting and 16 for target practice. The bushnell 4200 4-16x40 is a great scope!

4x16 is a large scope if your going to be carrying that 1022 any distance. how about a compact 2x7 or 3x9. would be cheaper and lighter.

Ive been looking at both the Burris FullFieldll 4.5-14x42AO & the Bushnell 4200 4-16x40AO havent look through either one just yet. Im always keeping my options open for any other suggestions.

I really like my Bushnell rimfire..the rings are a bit 'budget' but the scope is better than I am for sure...also it was only $35 at Reliable Guns and Tackle in Van. I belive (not checking) that it goes to about 9x...

Thanks everyone Ive decided to purchase a Bushnell 4200 elite 4-16x40AO scope. Will keep you posted on how it goes
