Scoping out the A2, or get an A4 upper with a better mount?

I'm going to build an AR15, and I want to do a full 20" barrel cause I already have a carbine.
I'm having trouble deciding between the A2 and A4 upper due to two main concerns...

Should I go with the A2 upper, in which there are NO M4 feedramps for the non-m4 barrel, allowing proper feeding of the .223 round? But mounting a scope on this is awkward, and not the best way IMO

or

Should I go with the A4 upper, mount a nice scope but then have to deal with an M4 feedramp on the upper and a non m4 barrel in which rounds could catch...

I feel that this is an issue because currently I have an A2 upper on an M4 ramped barrel (11.5") in which the feedramps are NOT aligned properly. I will admit that it will feed FMJ spitzer rounds absolutley fine, but hollowpoints ALWAYS catch on the feedramp, right where the ramp on the upper ends and the barrel starts.

What do you guys think?

I should mention that all the barrels under 20" seem to have the M4 feedramps, all the A4 uppers I've seen have the M4 ramps, and all the A2 uppers have standard M16 ramps...

Can you get a 20" barrel with M4 ramps? or an A4 upper with regular ramps?

Nah, not awkward, A2 works great for me. Quick removal/ replacement with no zero loss, also maintains use of irons with glass mounted. It's not very tacti-cool though, I guess :p.

That said, you're right; it's not the best way. An A4 with A2 FSB would be more versatile...

that actually looks really really good. How is it for zeroing? Are there enough notches for elevation to do it easily, or do you have to set it all the way to the last setting?

I plan on using a Dlask or eagle arms lower, and the rest will all be armalite parts. I was so impressed with the quality of my armalite that I will not use anything else :D

Thanks for the pic, A2's with scopes are hard to find on google images.

Plenty of elevation adjustment remaining, not sure of your system though. I just zero @200m and hold-over/under with the mildot reticle for other distances. I am unsure if/how elevation turrets etc. would work :confused:. Figure it would be fine if you have adjustment left... maybe not to 600m though.

<edit>Oh, actually I just checked and there's only a few inches (~8 clicks x 1/4") to spare zeroed @200m! Depends on your scope, but on mine turrets would be out... mildot OK if you hold over.</edit>

I'm such a picture whore :D;

what model of scope is that? how much did it run you?
Nothing fancy, just a workin-man's Zeiss :p. See below for price & model #. It has a #43 reticle, this is rare. Good luck getting one for (anywhere near) that price in Canada. I might add I paid GST/PST upon receipt in this country. Drag about the exchange rate when I got it :(, oddly exactly one year ago today.
