I went to the gun show in Yorkton today, and stood in front of Doug Rayner's display, he's from Pumphandle Saskatchewan somewhere. He had every kind of powder and primer available and at good prices, why can't the big stores get this stuff....he had full range of Accurate Arms powders including AA5744(the red. load powder), Alliant RL-17, Hybrid 100(or some such), BRS 8208, all the Vihtavourhi powders including my fav. N-133, lots of Varget, H-322...you name it......How does he get this stuff when none of the big stores can????

The other half of his display was at a gunshow in Vegreville Alberta today. Wish he would have had N-133 here. Yep he always has lots of stuff, the primers, brass and powder I use. Wish Rayner and Prophet River would operate out of the same town and I lived next door. The big stores are probably run by accountants who tell them not to bypass their main suppliers lest lightning strikes them all. I remember the fellow who was the main man behind the start of Wholesale Sports, was more interested in how he looked in expensive shirts and parking his customized Corvette next to the entrance doors than what we hunters wanted. P&D is also starting to get an attitude. Take a look at gun magazines, to cut costs they cut back on the articles and probably fire their writers, and continue to slide for a while on their advertising until people stop buying the magazine, so it must be the people's fault. I guess Rayner tries his best and I'm sure his profit line is slim sometimes but his customers keep coming back to buy not just look at fancy merchandise displays. He travels and mixes with his customers and knows what they want. He also puts in very long hours.

Wish we could have had all that in Vegreville today. I don't think there was a small pistol primer in the place,at least none that I could find. Dcent powder selection though, and some brass. All in all a pretty decent turnout for a small town.

Yup I Have bought from Doug before even drove down to his place once. Always had everything I needed even when things were Scarce. He also sells to a few of the "Big Stores" If you need something no one else has chances are he does.

I got this off the web.

deals

Since I live in Sask, my main dealings have been with the dealers in sask and doug and his wife are one of the people. They have always gave me a fair price for what I have wanted. Same price as the big stores with out the shipping price or the hassles.

At the Lloyd show he said he had 5 million Federal primers on backorder. In my books that's some serious volume for a "small" dealer.

Does Doug do mail order to other provinces? Does he have a website or email?
