Scout mounting solutions for Stevens 200?

I'm trying to make an el-cheapo scout-style rifle with a Stevens 200 (.223) for romping through the woods around here.

I need my long eye relief scope to clear the bolt area, as I am going to mod the rifle to accept stripper clips.

Does anyone know of either a scout-style base for the Stevens 200, OR if a relatively cheap AR cantilever mount would work for this purpose?

Nobody? I have no experience with AR cantilever mounts, so I don't want to go ahead and buy one and find out it wouldn't be far enough forward for my scope.
