M-14 / M1A Forward Optic Mount
1913 (Picatinny) style rail

Ultra-low mounting allows co witnessing and an improved cheek weld - no need for a comb riser. Clamps directly to barrel for maximum stability and accuracy. Allows use of Intermediate Eye Relief (IER) "Scout" scope, pistol scopes, reflex sights, and holographic weapon sights. Comes complete with screws, barrel clamps, recoil lug, Allen wrenches, and easy instructions. No gunsmithing or alterations required. Fits original, standard weight barrel profile only (H&R, Springfield, TRW, etc.).

(Model# M8)

Made in U.S.A.

Looks pretty good to me. Their testing process sounds realistic as they got typical m14 group sizes rather than claiming 1/4" groups or something silly. The low profile is very nice, co-witnessing would make for a great setup.

mount

Looks great, gets rid of the plastic handguard, looks more stable than most of the reciever mounts and still mounts a scope that i can use for hunting and my handgun. i like it alot. If anyone on the board has used it please post up!

Looks good...but a little expensive?

Compared to a Knights RAS rail.....cheap.

This type of mount also eliminates the heat issue that some have raised in regards to clamping a steel or aluminum mount directly to the BBL.

Hope someone gets to try it and get back to use soon,

Hey, that looks pretty sweet.

Do you think a handy kinda guy could make one?

Little bit of lathe work...on a piece of pipe,

weld some spit ring clamps onto the bottom, bore the clamps to the proper tapper.

Bolt to barrel, grind/fit the op rod clearance?

Drill/tap and bolt a rail from something else on top.

Probably about 30$ in materials and a day at the shop?

I think you'd have to be a bit sharper than "handy"; but sure, it's not that hard. However, for most of us a "day at the shop" translates to "8 hours of shop time", which make a couple hundred bux seem pretty cheap.

I took a look at my rifle last night...that oprod is pretty close to the barrel, to use spit rings a lot of material would have to be removed...it would probably be the case that both rings would have to be down the barrel from the op rod...not the most stable. They must use some sort of thinner strapping to clamp onto the barrel, or both mounts are in front of the op rod.
