Looking for a good scout scope. Where is the best place (on line) to find one. As this is a new thing for me I also would like some info on them. Do they make them in variable magnification (3-9 x )? Also what retical sizes do they typically come in ? Thanks

NCStar, AIM Sports make lower end versions with variable magnification. I have used the AIM 2-7x42 scout mounted on a Mosin M44 & 91/30 and had no complaints. Surprisingly held up to recoil with lots of rounds sent downrange. Have heard not so good things on the NCStar but no 1st hand experience with them. If you want higher end I know that Leupold makes scout scopes for $300 plus. I found a used one to place on my M44 and very pleased with it as well.
Tradex lists the AIM Sports model on their site in 2-7x32, but it's currently "out of stock" much like most things nowadays.

Remember, scout scopes cease to be scout scopes after about 2 1/2 power magnification according the Bindon aiming concept, and becomes a conventional scope.Thats why they usually start at around 2.

Burris makes a fixed 2.75 and a variable 2-7 scout scopes.

I ordered a 2.75 from Irunguns.com for $250US because I couldn't find one in Canada. I'm hoping it'll be here soon. I have the Leupold QRW low rings waiting.

Hi-Lux made a long eye relief scope that is 2-7x32mm. I bought mine used from a Gunnutz local so I'm not sure if it's still in production. Weaver lists a K4 Scout (4x28mm) in their Classic K series.
