Hi all,
I just picked up a scope mount from Tradex Canada (part# MNG) that replaces the rear sight leaf, and uses a long eye relief (pistol) scope. Has anyone had any luck with this sort of setup, or is it just a waste of time and money? Does the mount hold the scope to a true zero, or does it shake loose after 5 rounds? I am looking to pick up a decent pistol scope to use this rifle for hunting, but if these scope mounts aren't worth a damn, then I will not proceed further.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

It can hold the original rear sight, wondering what the problem may be.

I don't like any other of the alternatives, starting with getting a sniper bolt etc.

More input would be appreciated, or do people only use the gun in its original form?

I've picked up some of these mounts along with the M98K scout mounts from Tradeex when Marstar had some really low prices on the NC Star Scout scopes (2x pistol and 4x rifle). Marstar still sells the scopes, but for a bit more than they used to.

I haven't gotten down to installing the mount. I'll either use an old Aimpoint or NC Star scope and see how she performs. Otherwise I'll keep the scopes mounted on Mausers shooting cast bullets (saving me the strain of aiming with their sights at 100m).

I will certainly endeavour to make a report on these once I do get down to mounting and shooting with these mounts.

I had this setup on my Mosin M44 last year. It did hold zero; but it was a tricky thing to properly adjust the mount making sure its three adjusting screws were not pushing too hard or not hard enough. On mine, I screwed them in too much and that ended up slightly bending the mounting bolt (that goes from one side of the sight base to the other). That bolt is of a very small diameter; a better quality (stronger steel) one would probably have helped.

I had one from B-Square and put it on a Franken gun I made from a $12.95 barreled action and a $14.95 Mosin carbine stock from Century.

Sorry, I don't know how to make the pictures bigger. The B-Square mount and LER scope were definitely the most expensive part of the equation.
