"Scout" style scopes for a takedown BLR - where can I get one in Canada?

I recently purchased a Browning BLR Lightweight .308 Takedown in Stainless steel. Love the firearm, but these old eyes aren't doing me any favours when going out to 100 yards plus with iron sights. At 50 yards, no problem, good groups, close to the bull, but that's about the limit.

As much as I didn't want to, I think I've got to make the move to a scope. I want to maintain the takedown aspect for transport as a "spare" gun when hunting if my trusty 444 Marlin bites the bullet with something simple in the field, like a broken ejector, etc. That means I likely have to go with long eye relief scout style scope mounted to the barrel portion - it's drilled and tapped for such scopes which aren't mounted to the receiver. My problem is......I've looked at every retailer's website I can find, and I don't see any offered. Lots of brand names mentioned on other posts, but no sources that I could see.

In the U.S., lots of sites offer these as "scout style" scopes seem reasonably popular, i.e. 4scopes.com has a nice Nikon XR. If I order from them, I can get it with the "export" routine, but that adds a lot of cost (export paperwork, specified FedEx/expensive shipping, plus all the exchange costs/issues) and potentially a long lead time.

So - anybody know who might have these readily available in Canada, or do I have to go with an import?

Info appreciated.

Thanks,

O.N.G.

Look for a Leupold EER (Extended Eye Relief) scope - they can be picked up cheap in the EE. Usually a fixed 4x.

Bought one in great shape for $75 a few years back. Avg is about $150. Works great, but keep in mind that the FOV is teeeny tiny compared to a normal optic.

I have the same gun and the same problem. The proper rail from Browning is like $120 in Canada then the cost of the scope and rings.
So I said phooey on that and bought 2 #25 Weaver mounts ($6 each) and a no name 3-9x40 scope off the EE and was all happy to see a parcel in the mailbox that should have had some QR rings in it but didn't because the order picker did bad.
I don't know how much removing/installing the barrel changes things. Some stuff I've read says that there is virtually no change. That's what I wanted to find out by going cheap first but it looks like I'll be waiting a while longer to find out.

Ellwood Epps carries Weaver, they should be able to get you the K4 (4x28mm) Scout from Weaver's Classic K range. Eye relief is about 9.5 inches, reticle is duplex, parallax 50 yards, matte black finish.

Leupold's FX-II fixed power scout scope is 2.5x28mm, they also do a variable in the VX-2 model series, 1.5-4x28mm.

Burris does a fixed power at 2.75x20mm and a variable 2-7x32mm.

Thanks to all that replied - very helpful.

I managed to pick up a Browning Scout Scope rail to fit the rifle, and am ordering a used Nikon EER Scout Scope from a Canadian Retailer - described as "good condition" in the listings.

Will post results if post-purchase experience is of value.
