Screw In Barrel Extensions

Hey All,
I happened to see a picture of a sporting completion where one of the shooters had what I thought was a super extended choke tube but I think it was a screw in barrel extension with an extended choke.

So off to the internet where I found a few suppliers of these extensions that are in 50 or 100mm options. This would take my 30” Beretta to almost 32” which is what I keep hearing is the perfect length for sporting clays. I guess I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience or knowledge about these extensions.

They are reasonably priced just need to get them from Spain!

Looking forward to any information from the group.

I'm not familiar with these barrel extensions but I'd have a couple of concerns. First off, do your choke tubes screw into the barrel extension and if they do then your going to find that the extension wants to unscrew when you change tubes unless you tighten it really good into the barrel. Sound like a pain to me. Second, adding all that weight will affect the balance of your gun and you may find that it's too muzzle heavy, especially if it's an over and under where you are adding two barrel extensions.
Personally I'd just move on and love your gun the way it is because adding two inches isn't going to improve your sporting clays score enough to warrant the cost.

X2 on this one if you don't shoot decent scores with a 28 or 30 inch tube a 32 isn't going to do it for you. the longer tubes are overrated for most unless you are a 6ft four and 250 pound large person. A 32 will work well in a trap gun with clays not so much but that is my opinion and that is not worth much now days.

If you want extensions, you don't need to get them from Spain ( I also wonder if they're worth it)! Briley in the USA also makes them and they're known for very high quality offerings.

Unless the front sight isn't out on the end of the extension, the added length will do nothing for your sight radius... which is what you want with a longer barrel...

Thanks for the reality of what is going to happen, I was just curious if I should be looking into them or not and given the responses here I am going to wait and see.

From what they are saying my Mobil type choke tubes will screw in but I never thought of the multiple screw joints when removing the chokes to change them, although I rarely do this. I was considering them as I hear the rumour is the 32” barrels seem to help with the far targets. I absolutely love my 30” barrels with an extended choke tube as it seems nicely balanced for me

Then you've answered your own question, don't change a thing!
I think that as competitive individuals we tend to look for small things that may give us an edge, some things will help and some things won't. In this case I think these extensions will be more of a hinderance than help.
