Hi All,
I have an older Ithaca 37 in really nice shape but the barrel had to be cut down due to an accident. It measures .824" across. Is it possible to get screw in chokes installed? Would I need to go with a thin wall system or could I get it to use Invector style ones as I already have a good selection of those for my 11-87? Can you recommend anyone in Kelowna or the Okanagan that can do this work so I can take the barrel to them to make sure it can be done without having to pay a bunch of shipping costs?

I got an adapter from Brownell's for my M37. It silver solders onto the end of the barrel allowing you to use screw-in choke tubes. It's not cheap. I got mine about 5 years ago and spent over $200 for the adapter and a couple of tubes. I installed myself.

You definitely can not have the barrel machined for Rem-Chokes; wall thickness would be only 0.005 inches (if bore and OD were concentric). The recommended minimum wall thickness is 0.015". The only tubes I would suggest are Tru-Choke Thinwall (0.775"). There are several gun shops that can do the job.

How does it look? If I could use my invector tubes it might be worth the price as I wouldn't have to buy tubes.

Any names you would care to share either here or in a PM? I couldn't find any dealer/installer list on Tru-Choke site.

elimsprint; It is a tube about 3" long that the chokes screw into one end and the other end slips over the muzzle by about an inch and is then silver soldered. You have to measure the OD of your muzzle, the adapter comes in a couple of different diameters. I had to reduce the OD of my muzzle by a few thou to get a good fit. I believe it takes Winchester tubes, but you can check that with Brownell's.
