Seal hunting

There are so many things you can do with a seal

Dude, you so need to go south on vacation. We'll find you a girl to do those things with.:D

FWIW I'm pretty sure I live farther north than Otokiak, but I know I'm south of Jeremy. And I can't wait for my southern vacation!

Just means ya bust 1000 posts.

My experience is like yours - if the seal can flop back to his hole - even if he's dead - he's gone. It's fun to try to sneak in close on them, but I haven't had a lot of luck at it. As for standing motionless over a seal hole in that wind for hours - I don't think so.

Never seen the larry king show but i did see the piece on the news with paul and his wife on the ice flow with the baby seal. they even included the part where the cute cuddley seal pup tried to bite his wife. imagine.... you try to pet a wild animal and it tries to bite you.

I was wondering how they could get that close to the baby seal without the mother being around. do they adults usually leave the young alone or did they chase of the adult?

I would imagine the film production crew likely ran into problems there alright...of course they would have probably shot the Mother seal and left her to die and be wasted. Then they could proceed with their precious newsreel, tree hugging bull#### film shot in peace and quiet.

As for standing over a seal hole for hours ... don't know about hours or the wind as I have only tried in spring when the sun is beaming down on us big time and no wind ... gonna try again this spring to see if I can catch one traditionally! Cheers,
