So this weekend I was in at Princess Auto and they had some 23x spotting scopes, didn't have a price marked on them, but that didn't matter, $5 would have been too much. I looked through one and frankly it looked like it was maybe doing 1.5x, if that.

I've heard talk about the $60 costco scope -- but I cant seem to find it on the site.

If anyone has any leads on cheap-#ss scopes... much appreciated, thanks

Check out Celestron......see them at Optics Planet dot com.....or other places....Canadian Tire carried some a while back..

Winchester makes an el-cheapo 12-50X that runs about a hundred bucks. I fell ass-backwards into one and it works well for me. It's clear enough to see your bullet holes in a target at 200 - 300 yards.

I actually have the Princess Auto one. It's a fixed 23X and it's hard to focus sometimes, but it does work in very bright sunlight just fine...does come with a tripod.... I used it to sight in my Garand at the range..... I don't worry about leaving it in my trunk between uses and it didn't cost more than $20 I think... lol!
I generally just use the scope on my rifle to look at stuff instead.

The Costco ones are actually pretty good...

...but I don't think they were listed on the web site. Only available "in store" I guess.

We have a Yukon Firefall 15-45x60mm scope on clearance for $62. The Russian optics are better than the Chinese stuff in the Winchester scopes.

Costco online prices include delivery (costco.ca in Canada). Currently I see they have a Tasco 20-60x80mm which I have never tried but I recall asking someone on this website who had one and he said it was good for the money ($134.99). The Bushnell Sentry 50mm they list for $99.99 is incompletely described - magnification they forgot to mention is 16-32x. I have that one and I can see my .223Remington and .303British holes o.k. at 200 yards. The other Bushnells are variously more $ than that and all placed higher up in the Bushnell line.

Delivery is by UPS and it was a while ago but I think I got mine within a week.

I bought a $25 spotting scope from Capital Iron here in Victoria, I'm thinking about shooting it next time I'm at the range, it was a total waste of money.
