Hey All
I am reloading 223wssm ballistic tips and the seater die is leaving a deep ring on only some of the blastic tips. I reload for 223wssm, 22-250, 270, 30-06 and 300wsm and tis is a first for me, I have done all but steel wool the inside of the case mouth first. What is going on here?

I would try

some steel wool with lapping compound on it spun in a cordless drill. It may be that it just has a bit of a sharpe edge on it. I guess another alternative could be to take the stem out, chuck up a bullet(if it will work)in the cordless with lapping compound and give her a spin or vice-versa.

what cyb 486 said sounds good with the bullet and lapping compound I have done that many times but I did it in my lathe and a home made floating holder to hold the bullet if you do it freehand with a drill don't do it to much you don't want the stem to become none concentric it may load your bullets with to much runout good luck.

I've done the same myself - lapping with the exact bullet you want to load. Something I found useful is Brownell's have bullet sets that are precoated with some kind of abrasive (increasing fineness) that I chucked in a cable drive and spun until smooth. I only did that with a .224 bullet and am not sure what other calibers they might have.

By the way, these bullets are actually made for lapping your barrel.
