My son was a little too slow on this buck during muzzleloader, but a friend and I caught him in the open on opening day of the rifle season. Some bucks just want to re-write the script, and his version of a happy ending involved clearing the horizon. He very nearly made it too.

The second day of the rifle season may be the shortest season my boy is likely to have. It sort of went; OK its legal time now there's one why is he still alive bang. That's the long version.

I was useing a Model 70 that Ted Gaillard put together in 7 STW. My friend was carrying a Vanguard .257 Weatherby with a Boyds stock the first day, and my son was useing his Mark V Synthetic in .257 like he usually does.

The Edge went for a ride, and smoked a couple NT mulies a couple days before.

Within a mile or so, but we did take 4 on mine as well. The kids don't let me shoot anymore unless its to far for them, so I just tag along with the 'edge. Popped one coyote with Rebeccas 7/08.
