Securing Screws - Locktite?

Hi....just put a Riflebasix Sav-1 in my 12FVSS, and the instructions suggest locktite or nail polish to secure the different screws, to avoid them loosening etc. during firing.

I want to make sure I can change/move them as required, what would be the best method to ensure they don't move.

Thanks

Ron

BTW - the trigger pull is nice and light now, a clean break, no overtravel, no travel - hopefully my scores will go up a bit also.

should work well for your needs:)
Don't use any loctite on scope ring screws, bases fine

Loctite brand or any threadlocker will work. Make sure you pick the right compound for the application. Loctite blue(most companies use similar colour coding but read the label) is generally the one you want to use for screws you will occasionally take off. Red is more permanent.

You want Loctite 242 or as stated above, 243(the blue stuff as stated above). Both are the same, only the 243 is more oil resistant.....remember, use it on the threads of the base screws only.

IMHO, I locktite everything on the gun I don't want "rattling" loose... I've heard all the arguements as to why it's "not" necessary, but in my experience, assembly without locktite leads to problems... and remember, a little goes a long way...

I loktite everything too, including the ring screws on my scopes. If you do the threads, they hold nicely and they are not difficult to remove if the need arises, but once I mount a scope, it is there for the life of the barrel. Nothing worse than chasing a zero because of one @#$%^!! backed-off screw

It's very important to clean all of those threads and screws first!!! Brake cleaner works very good. Take a Q-tip and wipe them clean. Then apply your Locktight.

Very very good advice! I usually just wipe 'em off with a piece of tissue...

Ditto!

One aspect people often don't realize is the torque values for torquing screws vary when the threads are lubed or dry (no lube).

Ah yes Permatex is the saviour to us gun enthusiasts...Permatex threadlocker, epoxies/putty, Devcon(Permatex) putty...
