See-Through Rings...

I just bought a brand new Remington 700 CDL 30.06 from Le Barons and decided to go with the Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9 scope. Both items arrived yesterday but, I have yet to order any rings for my new scope. The rifle has iron sights on it and I'd like to keep them on just in case I ever have a problem with the scope while out hunting.

I would like to use those see-through rings, but I have no idea which ones to order for my rifle. Everyone has an opinion, so I'd love to hear some of them.

One thing about see through rings is that they are very high and they might put you into an awkward shooting position. You might want to look at the quick detachable rings instead.... with good ones you can remove your scope and then retain your zero when you put it back on.

I have see-trough rings on my Savage .308 and indeed, they do put the scope higher on the rifle. Depending on the model you will choose, some are lower then others but be carefull because the lower ones makes it difficult to see the sight at dusk/dawn.

Lots of people don't like them for differents reasons but personnaly, I never had problems with mine so... it all depends on what you will choose and how much $$ invested.

QD like Scott mentionned are another option. Leupold make some but expect to pay more then see-trough rings, the rings are not to $$ but the QD base is a bit more.

See through rings are solvign a problem that doesn't exist, and adding another problem (too high scope mounting for proper cheek weld/aiming)

Your 3200 is a pretty good scope, you shoudl nt' have many issues withit. And if you are concerned with using the irons, carry a little Allen key or screwdriver to remove the scope if necessary.

I bet you never use it.

And even at close range, a scope is a superior aiming device than irons. 3x even at very close range will still allow good shot placement, especially if you make sure to adopt the practice of keeping both eyes open when shoointg.
