My new mousegun.....

They are supposed to be very nice guns. Of course in the U.S. they slip nicely into a pocket.
I remember reading years ago that they were designed to work reliably with only one type of ammo, Winchester with the steel ball in the tip ?
Is that correct ?

The original Seecamps were 25cal,later punched out to 32 cal, more recently punched out further to 380 cal... All identical sizes. The original 25's and 32's were designed specifically to use Silvertips..

After the sn 31,000 a change was made in the stainless steel used in the Seecamp manufacture. It was stronger, and that's one reason a 380rd was feasible. My pistol is in the 47,### range, and basically the rule is that any round that will fit in the magazine and feed properly is acceptable to use.

Having said that to the best of my knowledge NO full length ball ammo will fit, so you are left with hollowpoints, or "short" ball ammo. Luckily Winchester makes a Q4255 32cal round which has a short, or "truncated" ball round, and it works perfectly in my Seecamp, and is my practice/plink ammo. It runs about $17.00 per box of 50 here in the U.S. My cc ammo of choice is actually Speer "Gold Dot" hp's.. Gold Dots are specifically designed as self defense ammo and cost approx. $17-22 per box of 20. (My buddy gets my Gold Dot's for me @ $17, but at a gun store they cost more.)

Check out the www.seecampforum.com sometime if you have an interest. Larry Seecamp is the owner/mfg. of the fine Seecamp pistols and he monitors and posts on the forum just like everyone else.

Its been fun to find out that buying a Seecamp and joining the forum is sorta like getting an extended family, and I like that.

Truthfully, any mousegun is designed specifically as a GOMA (get off my butt) last ditch weapon. Once you have one that is reliable and accurate at self defense range you just don't shoot it too often, so ease of locating ammo, or the prices aren't really a big deal.

Here's a photo of the NAA "Guardian" in comparison to the Seecamp.

I've owned my Guardian for over 8 years, and obviously NAA "copied" the Seecamp in its design.. The Guardian has been an excellent pistol too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the NAA Guardian, it's just not a Seecamp. ;)

IIRC, the .32acp mag had a spacer at the back to present the shorter Silvertip rounds properly. If you were needing to use ball, the spacer could be removed.

Not having one in hand, it's just my recollection of an mid 90's article.

Canuck223:

You are indeed correct.

On the Seecamp forum Larry Seecamp explains how the spacer came about, and how it works.. But, I have no problem just shooting the Winchester Q4255's when plinking and Gold Dots for cc.. Thanks for the suggestion tho..

Take Care,
