Hi Reloaders

I wish to speed up my reloading time with one of those automated powder dispensors/measurers. I'd like to hear some recommendations on brand and perhaps even places to order it from. I know that RCBS and Lyman have such units.

I want to use it for rifle and pistol. I am mostly interested in accuracy of the powder charges for typical small grained rifle powders (H322, Varget) but I also need it for Unique for pistol loads. I do not produce mass quanities of ammo so production capacity is not a big deal for me.

I have been frustrated with my older Lyman powder dispensor (manual thing) and I waste way too much time adjusting it and getting it to throw consistently (a pain for powder changes). If there is a manual powder dispensor / scale solution that I should consider, I'll listen as well.

Thanks.

if you search this has been covered in depth in another post. search for chargemaster 1500 or rcbs chargemaster. fwiw I like the rcbs better than the lynman

I got a RCBS CHARGEMASTER last X-mas, and have been very happy with it. I do a lot of high volume reloading to feed my 204's, and the chargemaster is one of the best investments I've made for my re-loading gear.

I have the Lyman, it is just fine. It gets knocked because of the warmup time, but you can bypass that and go straight to use if you want to. I normally start the warmup while getting ready, and it is finished by the time I begin the actual loading.

The RCBS has good reviews as well.

I'm with Shelldrake on this one.I too have the lyman and it has worked out very well for me even after 4 years of use now. I have checked it on many occasions for accuracy and it has always been bang on, and the warm up time on it doesn't bother me either, once I finish setting up it is ready for me.

I use a Chargemaster 1500. Before I bought it, I managed to put it and a Lyman side by side, and run them on my loads(308 varget, 308 4895, RL22 300wsm, and 223 varget mainly). The Chargemaster was faster, and its loads were more consistent.

Of course, this was just a comparison between 1 unit from each side, so YMMV.
