Seeking Help and Info regards to the Benelli M4

Obvious I've been planning on getting a M4 Super 90 for some time now but what I want is a little bit different that what would normally come out of the box.

First off, other than this Wiki page I have never actually seen any photos of a mariner finish on the M4, so do they honestly exist? Where would you find one if they do?

Secondly, the stock, I'd like a synthetic straight stock like shown on this M1 Super 90, mainly because shooting clays with a pistol grip is awkward for me...

I've googled for a good hour and haven't found any straight stocks that are labeled for the M4, I know anything is possible with the help of the right gun smith but I'm just asking in case I've missed something.

First of all - congrats on your pending purchase.

Secondly - call Anthony at Wanstalls (CGN sponsor - look at the top of the page under 'Dealer Network'). He'll answer all your questions (yes - he rocks! ...)

I picked up both of my Benelli Super 90 M4 Entry (14" barrels - ohhhhh ....) from him and he (and Dan) know pretty much everything there is to know about these Italian vixens,

The Mariner version does exist; it's called the H2o. They're very, very rare and cost a pretty penny. I saw one on gunbroker like a week ago for $6k... but my god, they're dead ###y!
 
You won't find it without the pistol grip, but you can take it off and swap it for a dude with a comfortech or whatever. People are usually looking for this adjustable buttstock to put on their supernovas.
 
I would likely keep the collapsible stock/pistol grip to swap it around but would prefer the rifle stock or what ever the proper name for it would be.

And yea 6k wow, I expected them to cost a little more but didn't think it would be triple the price.

They do make a straight grip stock for the M4, I had one. Finding one is a problem and a special order item that's guaranteed to take months coming from Stoeger, if you're lucky.

To the OP, you won't find the H2O in Canada, they don't make it with the limited capacity mag tube, hence it's over the 5 round limit under Canadian law. You could buy a regular M4 and find someone to nickel plate it, though from previous experience I'm guessing that plating job would run close to $1000.

As for the Benelli M4 itself, getting one in any configuration will be a move you will not regret.
 
Try your clay run with the pistol grip strait stock, did many run this way and it is very comfy this way, you will be surprised, how versatile this M4 is... JP.

X2. I just put my $$$ down on a 18.5" M4, but I am uncertain on the pistol grip stock. I have never had a shotgun with one, and I my mind the standard style stocks are "cleaner", and less snaggable (if that's even a word :confused:).

+3 Though with a decent gunsmith I'm sure it's very possible.
 
I have an M4 Super 90 with the 14" barrel. These things are a work of art and run like a top! As others have mentioned, you will not regret the purchase, whichever version you end up getting!

Have you tried to contact anyone? I'd start with Stoeger, they're the importer for Benelli. Either way, like I said, it's not a simple click on a CGN hotlink and then enter your CC info, you may actually have to phone or email someone. Google works too. ;)

I did Google, email, and call. I am now picking it up in the US on my next business trip. As much as I would love to spend my money here on these extras - the time required a day to spend phoning, calling, and Googling gets wasted and usually leads to a 4 month wait + x2 on the price for the smallest of accessories. Business travel, as some of the CGN network knows is the only way to make it happen in a timeline that we as gun aficionados can live with. Thankfully I have the opportunity once in awhile to purchase the cool stuff abroad. I only posted my request in hopes that someone might have a quick reply whereby I could keep my money in the country and get the product before hunting season.

Buying most things gun related in Canada is frustrating, especially if it's a special order item. I generally go the same route as you. There are a lot of US guys on forums that will ship as well. And as you know anything "Benelli" is expensive. That said, you could sell your telescoping stock for a lot down south, they were in high demand last time I checked.
You'll love the "regular" stock, it's a huge improvement, though you'll lose some of the "cool" factor.

Thanks Bear. You are the second person in a week to mention the trading or selling the telescoping stock in the US. I have given it some thought and at the end of the day it would be neat to have both on hand. I intend to use my M4 exclusively for every type of hunting and clay situation I can for one year. That includes geese, duck, deer, pheasant and my favourite - leftover or used pumpkins in November. Some instances will require the comfortech stock and others will require the ultra cool telescoping stock. Either way, it's grins and giggles all the way with this shotty.
 
Hey Forest,

Any update on the Comfortech stock vrs the M4?

I went to the shop today and looked/handed a few M4's and had a stiffy the whole time, but I want to make sure that this is an option as I'm basically in the same boat as you.

My current comfortech stock acquisition in the US has fallen through and I am now back at square one. I am sure one will turn up sooner or later. In the meantime I will keep using the telescoping p-grip and see how the hunting goes. Starting a new thread on M4 magazine plugs in 9....8.....7....

+1000...friends and family just few hours drive in Washington. In return, they get Canadian beer, medicine and ketchup chips.

Do a search on this forum...I recently recall someone here acquiring one. Not sure if it was the same route you did though.
