Hey folks,

I am looking for some information on my mosin nagant markings. I have been told it is a Tula 1943 PU sniper, but have received mixed replies regarding the authenticity of the optic.
Any information on the rifle, scope, and markings would be appreciated!

It is a legitimate PU optic.

Manufactured by factory number 357, NKV. Between 1942-1943.

Just one of the variants marked "91/30", most are simply marked with a year. Neat variation.

The square with the "X" inside of it is a refurbishment marking, from what I believe is 2nd Grau depot, Ukraine.

Hope this helps :)

Well it looks good. Its obviously was refurbished at some point. It has been reblued. Your mag assembly is Izhevsk. The rest looks original. Stock is WW2. Also sloppily shellacked.
Scope, you can't expect it to have original scope from WW2 on it. So during refurb, they ground down original scope number as well as part of the top of the star and restamped present scope number on it then reblued the whole thing.
Under handguard on the barrel you should have Russian GIS markings for export as hunting rifle. If you remove the stock and see the imprint of the receiver tang date stamp on the stock match then you know the stock is original to the rifle.

Awesome! Great to have knowledgeable blooks on here! What markings indicate that the magazine is izhevsk?
So could this be called a 1943 Tula pu mosin nagant or should other wording be used?

What price point would a rifle like this go for?

Rifle looks like a good/proper refurbished sniper rifle to me as well. Nice score! They are seemingly getting harder to find up here.

interested to hear value as well. disbursing my buddies estate and he has 2 mosins. one is izhevsk with scope mounted; same as one above but no markings unless they are under the rings. help would be appreciated; can text pics to those knowledgeable on these firearms. thanks, lee

Could be a post-war Mosin conversion, as the receiver ring portion was turned/ground to accept a new serial number. Molot has made quite a few sniper conversion for export in the 90-es to early 2000s. Scope is not a repro, just a refurbished one. The rifle has a refurbishment mark on it too. If you separate the action from the stock, you might see if there are any proofs underneath, as well as the actual year the receiver was made on the tang. If it matches the year on top of the receiver- the barrel hasn't been replaced since day 1
