I skimmed thru the first few pages of this forum and failed to find any relevant discussion - hence the question .....

- Rifle (30/06) is clean barreled, equipped with American stock
- Scope is VX3i 3.5-12x40 - 1 inch tube

- Not looking for Optilok mounts
- 1 pc ring mount preferred (Warne, Burris, Leupold)? Those sites weren't too clear in detail or perhaps I had missed something? Moreover, didn't notice anything suitable in Talley .....
- Need product that is available in Low height

Your kind response would be much appreciated. Thanks,

Spend the money on the optilok rings and you will not be disappointed.
Number of year back lots of owners had trouble with the spent round bouncing back into the magazine causing jams.
Long threads of displeasure having to spend $$ on propitiatory rings in order to make the gun work as it should.
Sure Warne, Burris, Leupold rings would fit, but the majority found they didnt offer the repeat function of clear ejection from the port.
But, your money your choice to dig deeper or give it a whirl and spit ball oorrrr call precision optics and ask them.

Get the one piece, Low, Optilocks. The quality is excellent. They are designed to centre over the receiver and they hold the optics very securely without the need for lapping.

The other brands make something that fits but not well, require careful lapping, and do not necessarily centre over the receiver.

Not sure why you are not wanting Optiloc, as they are quality rings. If it is price...you are not going to see much better return for your investment. If it is weight...this is not the place to save mere ounces.
I have one set of Leupolds on a Sako, and while they work, do not have the same benefit of the Optiloc rings of the ring insert that protects your scope tube (and work very well), and have only 2 screws vs 4 for extra clamping security. (and I am a confirmed Leupold fan...but prefer the Optiloc over the Leupold for use on Sako rifles)

Okay, where can one get those? Could use them on a 375 H&H, but have yet to see the one piece sets in any height in Canada.

Does your Sako 85 have Iron Sight? If so, I would get Talley base for Sako 85 and their QD ring, it works perfect and return back to zero once put back properly.
