So I was checking out the Smith Enterprise website (doing some drooling) and I noticed that they produce their own M14 barrel in both the standard contour as well as the medium contour. With an upcoming EBR build on the horizon, I wondered just how good these barrels are, and if given the choice, what would be the better barrel for my build?

So my question to the gurus is this; how do the SEI barrels match up to the Kreiger barrels?

Let's hear your thoughts and opinions...

I am running several SEI barrels, two are older 18.0" standard (chrome lined) and medium heavy that were made for SEI by Wilson. I also have a new 16.25 CQB barrel plus standard and medium heavy 22.0" barrels. All are excellent and most are sub MOA accurate with quality ammo from SAGE EBR stocks. All of my SEI barrels have 4 grooves and a 1:10 ROT... this is ideal for my sound suppressor. I have not tried anything from Kreiger.

You probably won't get a smith ent barrel into canada.
The only ones that I know of already that got here years ago are, according to ron smith, stolen property as they where back doored out of smith ent's shop and sold by an employee. How they made it into canada is not my story to tell. Ron smith is rumoured to be not too happy about it.

You'd be far better served to get Jerry at mystic precision to order you a krieger. I just received a gorgeous 18.5 medium stainless from him for a client. I just placed an order for 2 more so anyone wanting a krieger M14 barrel, send mystic a p.m. And deal with confidence ;)

Man, whoever has a stolen barrel must be a real ####, to buy one from an employee under the table like that. I bet if that person were on CGN we'd make fun of him all the time, especially behind his back. He'd probably be one of those terrible posters that calls everyone stupid while adding nothing useful himself.

Yeah what a jerk....he should just fess up and admit to stealing that barrel and being nothing but a nuisance in the battle rifle section. Some people....jeez....nothing pisses me off more than armchair commandos who think they are gods gift to CGN and play with their winkies in front of mirrors

That same ex-employee stole NIW TRW parts that I had supplied for my very 1st SEI build.

Ron stepped up and replaced the missing parts with NIW TRW parts from his private stash.

In all fairness the originally guy who bought the parts off the thief from SEI didn't know they were stolen till I contacted Ron to build me a Crazy Horse (cost a mint so I kinda went a different route - LRB). Ron was pissed about the fact stuff was stolen and colorfully told me so LOL! Told him I'd be more than happy to return the barrel but he said keep it...it was being used by a proper M14 enthusiast shooting it with a herd of AR's and holding its own at Service Rifle.

And to clear any rumors or bs that this created Ron is totally fine with me having this barrel. I bought it not knowing the origin or how it got up here. If I got it directly from said lowlife thief then I'd be just as bad for taking it.

Alright there we go, edited all my posts

As mentioned you won't get a SEI CrazyHorse barrel.......Ron Smith will not ship them out of the U.S.

Regarding the "Stolen" CrazyHorse barrels, there were 3 Medium weight barrels that were brought into Canada. They were ordered/bought by a fellow M14 enthusiast (Who shall remain nameless) in good faith from SEI. It was discovered over a year later that the barrels were in fact "Stolen" /"Back Doored" out of SEI.........along with many other parts............Those 3 barrels are the only ones that made it into Canada.

I bought one of the barrels as soon as they arrived, and it was installed on my Mark 14 Mod 0 EBR build.

Ron makes great barrels. The barrel indexed perfectly. I would put the CrazyHorse barrels up against any of the Match M14 barrels...........Douglas also make a pretty good Med/Hvy weight M14 barrel.

At one time Krieger made an actual M14 DMR barrel..............I have seen/handled only one of those.........but it was a thing of beauty.....:D

Sadly I sold of the EBR clone a few years ago and have no idea where the SEI CH barrel ended up........
