Ok so I'm thinking of the possibility of selling 3 of my AR's in order to fund an H&K MR223.......am I stupid for doing this? Rifles that would be sold are....

1- Sig M400 enhanced with MI 15" keymod handguard and a few other bits
2- Complete Colt Canada IUR with Giessele LPK and ALG ACT trigger. CC lower and CC BCG.
3- Frankin build with Aero upper and lower, DPMS LPK, BCM PNT trigger, DD lite rail, AXTS BCG and 18" Anderson Barrel

I was hoping that I could score approx 3k between all these rifles to fund the HK. I honestly don't want to sell any of them but aside from giving handies on the low track, there's no way to scoop up HK money.

Opinions?

Quality over quantity I say, not that those aren't qaulity pieces. You could re write that old saying in an instance like this, "You can own 4 ars, but you give one handy...."

the mr223 is quite heavy. Upgrading the trigger will cost you a pretty penny. If you don't like the quad rail, there's only a few options. Same for the muzzle brake. It's a nice rifle though.

I have an HK. Great gun, but really, functionally no better than my Colt Canada ARs. And as others have said, heavy. If you really want it, buy it, but I don't think it would be worth getting rid of the other three. Though personally I'd stick with quality and get rid of the frankengun either way... if you don't go HK, just keep the Colt and Sig :)

the MR223 is kinda like the right hand drive JDM cars that are for sale. they are different than the NA models, but in the end they are almost the cars that you can buy here in LHD. they are odd, and hard to get parts for when needed.

Thanks for your opinions on this guys. I have personally handled an HK but it was some time ago. I didnt get any further than dry firing it. I have somewhat of an attachment to each of my AR's so maybe it is best if I keep them. With the Sig being my first AR and the CC being, well a CC, I really dont want to get rid of them. Ive though about selling the frankin gun on its own, but really for the 1k I would get parting it out, is it even worth it? Even 1k towards a HK still leaves me over 2k to find........im pretty sure a crack addiction would be cheaper and less stressful than being a passionate gun owner......faaaaack

I cant comment on the 3 guns you want to possibly flip toward the one gun you want. I have sold off multiple guns before to purchase one new gun and have always regretted it once the novelty of that single new gun wears off.

Hk system of parts makes sense. Stick to a system is my advice, collecting is fun to a point but have spare parts and a system is an excellent mind set to have.

You go to a range to shoot and you are shooting HK 416 line of variants with spare parts bolts etc is a system you get use too. This breeds results and expands from their. Covering your bases is great optics lights lasers cqb spr or whatever. . At the end of the day you can always order parts and wait a few months.

Your CC rifles are already a system I recommend and parts are easily obtainable, plus CC lasts forever as well. You could always stick to HK416 and CC as your rifles of choice and use that as your system. I believe you already have a piston HK so getting another is smart idea.

Totally disagree. Parts you get easily now. Either order through NS or Irunguns, etc. Only problem is wait time a couple months. If that. Also odds of the gun breaking in your life time are doubtful.

Are you an operator that needs his rifle to work for weeks while you do long range recces in a country your government denies having any involvement in? No? Keep your Colt Canada, Sig and Frankengun and save up for it. Yes, the HK demands the price that's set, but unless you've got the cash to throw down, I doubt it's worth the sacrifices. I'm not saying don't own one one day. I'm saying don't sacrifice things you like to own it sooner. HK isn't going anywhere. Put the cash aside and buy free of regret.

Full disclosure, I don't own an HK and probably never will. That's two months of mortgage payments and bills for me.

I think you should seriously ask yourself what the HK has over any of the three guns you already own. Not sure about the Frankingun by the SIG and CC are both MOA or better guns. You would have to shoot an obnoxious amount of rounds to notice any difference in reliability. Both the two you own and the one you want are all MIL SPEC, and regardless of differences in manufacture, are all robust military grade rifles with strong warranties and customer support.

By all means get the one you want, but I suspect you have a bit of a grass is greener problem. Personally, every time I think about selling a gun because it isn't getting me excited any more, I take it out to the range and shoot it. I always end up changing my mind and keeping it. A gun in the locker will always be a little underwhelming. Take em for a drive and ask yourself what is the HK going to give you that you don't already have, asides from more room in the gun locker that you can't afford to fill.

To each their own.

Sell the Frankengun and buy a kac or a night at the peelers. The hk is badass but not too sure id want it as my only ar15 because the one that I handled was heavy and felt like it would suck for 3 gun.
