Howdy ; So I got a half brick of Sellier & Bellot 5,3 LP boxer primers . It says for rifle pistol or revolver cartridges .
Used a RCBS rockchucker ,universal primer arm with a tube feed . Primed winchester 45 colt brass But the pockets had to be clean to seat them down 2 thosands below the brass . The starline had clean pockets and the pocket was reamed with a lyman pocket reamer. It still took a very FIRM push to seat the primer and you had to watch for high primers if not pushed firmly to bottom . These primers are sharp edged and liked a chamfer to guide them in .
Shot them from a ruger with 18 LB hammer spring .One failure to fire but went bang on the second hit. Sorta shallow dent next to the federals . The S & B primers set off Alliant 2400 powder the same as Fereral 155 mags . No noticeably differance in the american select load between S & B or federal primer.
I will use the rest of the S & B primers in a marlin rifle 45 colt for silouette shooting with the starline brass because of the stronger hammer hit .
I would use them again if needed but would put a stock hammer spring back in the Ruger .
I primed some 38/55 winchester brass , these loaded smoothly with normal presure to saet them . I have not shot them yet ,they set 11 thousand below the brass . I will be useing just a starting load of Unique (Lyman cast book ) for plinking fun load .
I do wonder how well these primers would work in a progress press , could be tough .
Your milage may vary !

Same question as Ghostsaww, but where id you get them.
Is this something that we will all be using in the next while, since the US is keeping all of its supply there. The same with powder, are we in Canada going to be using a Europe brand?
Who is going to make a European powder/primer/bullet reloading book, and all the stuff we have is going to be used to start the fire?

I`ve been buying S&B primers for a while now, and haven`t had problems with seating or ignition...AND, I get them for $25.00 a brick from a guy that attends the S. Ontario shows.... And no, I`m not telling who he is.....:D

HI ;
I paid 15 $ for a half brick of 500. The guys name is ED and he makes the rounds of the southern Ontario gun shows . I expect to see him at the Ancaster show April 12 .
The primers are harder than federals as to be expected when the box says for rifle and revolver use . My revolvers have been tuned , light springs for cowboy action shooting , stock springs should work better .
The primers are hockey puck shape , in that they have square shoulders and edges ,neat and tidy . But if there is not a bit of a rounded edge on the primer pocket they can catch , Also it took brute force to push them all the way in useing a rockcrusher press ! ( winchester and starline brass , some assorted range pickup brass was a little easier .)
