An associate of mine, who is not computer friendly, is wondering if I am willing to help him sell several of his firearms. So being a friend I have to say yes. He has a pair of Sako's which he wants to sell and I have no experience with Sako's in the realm of used firearms (I'll be the first to admit it..)

Sako A II, .22-250, w/ Leupold 6.5-20x scope

Sako A V, .375 H&H Mag, w/ Leupold 1-4x scope (Full mannlicher stock)

I have seen them at a glance and they are in excellent shape. I want him to get a fair price for them. Any help?

I already told him that I would need more images if he wants me to list them.

A quick search of the EE forum will give you ballpark figures of asking prices for many Sakos.

Neither has been made since 1980. So figuring out a reasonable price will be problematic. However, there's an AV, in .270, listed on Accuracy Plus'(Peterborough) site at $899. Not likely a Mannlicher stock and no mention of what sights, if any. Being a .375 H&H won't make it easy to sell in Ontario.
The AII would have been an easy sell in the Spring. Not as easy this time of year. I'd be thinking about the same money as the .270, though.

These guys are right on the money. I paid $1,000 for an AV about 4 years ago with a much nicer stock than the 22-250 and prices of these have come down since then.

There was a full stocked AV in .338 at Williams Arms last spring. Sold for $995 with a Leupold 1-4.

The .270 that Sunray is talking about at A-Plus has been there for over 2 years at that price...

I've found that spending a couple of bucks on books about firearm values is a great place to start. Also, as was mentioned do a search on the EE. Between the two you can get pretty close to fair market value. As to what people will pay you just have to see. If a rifle is worth $1000 and you advertise for around $850 it will go pretty quick. If you want the $1000 it may take quite a bit of time to move unless you luck out with a motivated buyer.
