What I would like to know is why a tranfer between consenting Pal or Pol holders can not be done and all the imformation and all the paper work sent to CFC by registerd mail not be a better way of doing things. Copy of both partys Pal or Pol should be enough to do the transaction????
That way you would not have people posting threads that have a problem with their language which I don't think helps. Just my thoughts on this matter. Johnny G1

Sending stuff by snail mail is slow. That's why it's called snail mail. Trust me, if your transfer gets sent to the CFO, it takes long enough already.

A better question should read:
If a consenting, licensed firearm owner chooses to purchase another firearm, why should they be forced to register it when the registry has already proved to be worthless and a waste of valuable tax dollars?

I would think you are required to do it over the phone to ensure the information is accurate, that the person you are dealing with is in fact the actual PAL holder, and to ensure that neither party has any flags on their license that would prevent firearms ownership. i.e. criminal conviction, sucide attempt, etc.

POL holders can sell, but cannot acquire. The POL also allows them to buy ammo.

Personally, I prefer to phone in a transfer than to trust Canada Post with the documents. At least on the phone I get the persons name should something not go right.

But, if some Canadians get their head out of their a** by next election, we shouldn't have to worry about the 2 billion dollar sham aka: CFC.

But then Canadians always love a good kick in the teeth, so I doubt anything will change. The Liberals will make some empty promises, some idiots will take the bait and we will be no further ahead. Funny how some people can be bought.........

And yes, you know who you are....I watched the last election and saw where the Liberals won.

I would love to see them open up the online transfers to civvies... even if they have to allow both parties to do a verification of the facts before the transfer is processed...

Mainly the fact that it would be illegal and there is no discussion of illegal topics on this site so lets stay away from that type of post.

Your missing the point. Theft is illegal. The Registry is simply Lib's stealing from taxpayers. You don't really belive over 2 billion is tied up in there, do you? They know it's a lost cause, so they will throw in all the little things, trips, dinners, etc that could case them problems later. I was not refering to selling guns illegally. I was refering to abolishing this mostrosity of a program.

Existing POL can be renewed. You just cannot apply for a new one if you are not a POL holder already.
