Been saving my reloading rejects and some 22 that's made it's way home. I plan on bringing it in for scrap as it's not re-loadable, anyone have any experience with this? Do the primers have to be removed or do they give you a lower rate for ones still primed? I called around a while back and I believe brass was ~$1.50/lb.

From what I gather, they will refer to any scrap metal with potential contaminants (other metals, etc...) as dirty.
If you were running a machine shop and had scrap from a line, that, I suspect, would qualify as clean....
But I may me mistaken.... or hallucinating.... ;-})

I had 12- 5 galon buckets of .22 brass from the range.
I was tasked with dropping it at the local scrapper. I was told how much it was worth, I asked if he could do better, he said no unless it was clean. I said I could clean it. He said it wouldn't be classed as clean unless it was in a different form than used brass......
So basically to get the "clean" brass price, I would have to melt it down into ingots......
Now if it was used plumbing fittings, and it wasn't dirty, it would be "clean" brass price......

That's why I suggest calling around for prices. The dealers are quite used to people taking whatever they can get once they are in the driveway. Phone, get the name of the person who gave you the quote and make them stick to the agreed upon price. Do the math and be prepared to take the brass elsewhere if necessary.
