I am looking to buy one day semi-auto restricted type rifle. I like to obtain good accuracy, so most likely I will need heavy match barrel.
As to caliber, there is very little choice, most likely .223Rem.
I am going to shoot 300yr.

What is the most accurate out of the box ( with good trigger and very little improvements) rifle in .223Rem or .308Win?

Thanks

ar-10(t). Not cheap but a nice piece of work. There are several custom shops in the states that will turn out accurized models but very $$ and you'll have a hard time importing.

If you can find an SR-25 Stoner rifle kicking around it would be a nice precision semi-auto.

Knight MK11 would be the newer modified version of the above mentioned rifle.

The Stoner Rifle was a great gun. Very accurate and well made.

AR-10(t) or AR-15(t) would be a match quality rifle as well.

Good luck, those are some fun toys your looking at!!

I have a friend, (yep one), who just so happens to have an SR-25 which I ran some ammo through. Sweet gun!! To bad friend NEVER shoots it. LOVE to have that sitting around.

Its about as accurate as I have seen any semi. I've seen a nice AR put together by Blue Creek Tool out of the states. Done very nicely as well, highly accurized with all the aftermarket goodies. Many nice toys to spend money on!!

AR15 are now routinely shooting sub MOA at 600yds with open sights. The M305 can be made to shoot equally well.

I prefer the handling qualities of the AR. The Sig black special is supposed to be a shooter too.

The SIG series 5.56 rifles are exquisite! Really intelligently designed and accurate. Every part has been thought-out beyond belief. There is very little to improve. But, the whole rifle holds together with the cocking handle - lose it and you're flucked.

If I was to splurge - a SIG rifle!

Actually guys are setting up there AR'S in a wide varitey of calibers for percision shooting out to 1000 yds. I have put one together in .223 wich shoots 1 hole groups at 100 meters and if I do my part 1 hole at 200. Past this things start to open up but in good conditions i usually can ring out 1 1/2" to 2" groups. Do some reading and buy the best barrel/scope&trigger you can get.
