im looking too get into clay shooting, which gun is good for a beginner ? ive shot my friends moss 500 and i know i like shooting clays! im thinking too spend abit more and getting a semi instead of a pump ......these are what im thinking..... stoeger 2000(mispelled maybe :p),winchester x3,remington 1100,benelli ????? which semi do u guys use and like ?

I use a Rem 1100 and like it...;)

However, to better respond to your query (I'm being all intellectual and such! :p), we might need to know what price-range and chamber-size you are looking for?

I have handled the Nova, and its a nice decent gun. Good quality, but a tad bit rough though, as for function. Im sure with breaking it in, it would be awesome.

If you're going to shoot a lot of clays, spend the extra $$ and get a semi, your shoulder will definately thank you. The gas operated semi's like the 1100 and SX3 like you mentioned are soft shooters and very reliable. I shot a Browning Gold for years at clays and I could shoot that gun all day long and never get sore.

I shoot a ceasar summit sporting limited as my main SC gun, but that is w-a-y out of your price range...But I must say, I have lots of fun shooting my mossy (mossberg) 930 12 gauge, which is 3" semi auto and can be purchased for well under 700$. I have never had any issues with the mossy (has a valve system along the lines of a browning), and I have even put over 1500 rounds through it without cleaning it and it still worked. Its fun, cheap, and with the right choke can be used for SC or hunting.

I've shot a lot of clays with my 11-87, and I just bought another 1100...I think I've shot more 25's with the semi than I have with the Citori :D...
The cheap ammo will work fine if you clean your action once in a while...

For me the Remington’s' are the best bang for the buck. The 1100's and 1187's are great semi's and work with all the different shells from 1 1/8 OZ clays loads to heavy buck and slugs with no changing of gas system parts to get reliable functioning. The 870 pumps are a great value as well and you can purchase every imaginable part and accessory for each. They have been around forever.
