I see that a couple rifles (BAR, R1 etc) offer some larger cartridge options like 338WM, 358, 458 WM etc

What other semi auto rifles offer mid bore and big bore offerings?

I have Garand in 9.3x62, and in the process of building a couple more. Bit heavy but shoots well and is reliable once set up. Have taken a couple of moose with mine, and would not hesitate to hunt grizzly if they ever open it again in BC.

I've seen a couple of 458 Bars, and one 416. All were done by 'smith's though. I had a 338 Bar for a while (bear gun), and toyed with the idea of a rebore or rebarrel, but never got around to it and eventually sold the rifle. - dan

I like the sounds of a semi auto 416, maybe even a .416 Ruger.

Ruger make it happen!

It looks like the BAR currently tops out at 300WM and the R1 at 338WM.

Does anyone else offer chamberings above those?

Didn't someone do a 300 Win Mag on an AR platform? I seem to recall reading about that a while back. And if a 300 will fit, medium length magnums will fit. May be a moot point if it's too AR like, in our current clime. - dan

Sauer 303 comes in 9.3x62.

Get your wallet out though

I think Remington may have made a semi 35 Whelen but that may only be pumps

No you're right, Remington chambered the 35 Whelen in their semi auto (and the pump, of course) - Only in the later models, 7400 and 750 (and 7600 pump), and definitely hard to find.

But I don't think you can quite put the 35 Whelen in the same bracket as the "real" magnums the OP was asking about. Particularly in the Remington semiauto, because handloads should probably be kept on the cool side for that design.

Also, the Remington Model 8/81 came in 35 Remington, but that's clearly not in the same category.
