I will mainly use it for target practice with the iron sights. Which gun is more acurite and reliable? The CZ858 or the Mini 30??

Mini 30

Though you'd be better off with the Ruger M77 in 7.62x39 if you really want to target practice. With good sights it's be a dandy little rifle.

A Ruger Mini-30 is a way better gun than an SKS, IMHO.

For a semie... I'd go with the CZ858 (Or the VZ58L with the chrome barrel... once Marstar receive them)

If I'd be looking for a nice rifle in 7.62x39... I'd give some serious consideration to the CZ 527 carbine

I have the SKS, Mini-30 and a mini Mauser all in 7.62x39.

I like them all, but in semi I would prefer the mini-30. It has a man-sized stock compared to the Norinco. For handloading I like the fact it takes 308 bullets. It also has a much neater scope mounting system.

What is the difference between the CZ858 and the VZ58L besides the chrome barrel?
