Hi all

I have been shopping for a Tubb speedlock kit and came across a bit of information on a random forum. It claims the firing pin in the Sendero' is lighter than other 700's.

Could someone out there confirm this. If it is true, when did Remington start doing it? Is there a difference in the spring as well?

The firing pin in the Sendero's is no different that any other in a M700.

Not sure if the Tubb is lighter than the factory offering.

Gretan makes a light steel fluted pin if you are looking for a lighter one.

I figured about as much. The post claimed it was skeletonized.

I got a Tubb kit for a different gun from Brownells last year, but I have heard they won't ship them up here anymore. I wonder if Midway will?

Not sure about my Sendero, but the firing pin on my 700P 338 LM is lighter; it is skeletonized and looks like an 'X' in x-section.

well my curiousity got the better of me and it took it apart (that way I can sleep tonight)

The Sendero pin is in fact skeletonized. I wonder if a speedlock kit would offer that much improvement.

Gre-tan also sells fluted firing pins. I'm planning on order a standard one this week to replace my j-lock version on my BDL.

I'll let you know if there is an issue with shipping it.
