Greetings all you Service Rifle CQB types! What a great match and a super gathering of CGNutters! I had a load of fun yelling at all of you on the line and thankfully my girlie voice did not turn up on the megaphone! :nest: Those of you who shoot Service Rifle and work the butts with me know this inside joke ;)

Anyways, I loved today's match and all the great shooters we hosted. Timk just emailed me the results and here they are:

What say you?

Barney

I had lots of fun, at dudley2112's expense. Always a great shoot with my CQB buds.

I will say it again, all the GTA, S\W ontario Black Rifle lads should come and try this out. Its fun as hell.

EvilDezel,

Don't worry about it... kschumac squared already reporting from the durham region :)

Thanks to TimK and Barney, we experienced an excellent shoot and had tons of fun. Looking forward to the next zombie hunting practice.

didn't have a lot of time to take pics this time... here's a couple after the shooting was done...

Dang... I did not know you were going to post the scores publically here before I shot the match :(

The lower ranks are only separated by something like 50 points. I think I got something like 9 points out of a possible 110 points in the pistol component simply because I used a Glock. Others may shoot the Glock really well, but I know that I have trouble shooting the Glock very quickly with its 7+ lbs trigger pull.

So why use a pistol that I know I am not very good with? Because I just wanted to get more experience with my least favoured (competition) handgun... I do like the fact that it is really light and has an internal safety mechanism that makes it a really good CCW firearm in the U.S. According to the Glock web site, my Glock model 22 is 23 ounces when it is unloaded, whereas my Para 16-40 is over 40 ounces unloaded (double the weight).

Actually, I like the extra weight of the Para 16-40 when shooting (not strapped down to my leg), because it absorbs some of the recoil. I also like its incredible light single action trigger and bright light-fibre optic sight.

Perhaps I will use the Para 16-40 in the next CQB competition, so I will not be ranked so low. Last weekend, we had a fun shoot to raise some funds for a disabled soldier, in Kingston, as a component of an IPSC Level III match being held there... and I think I shot 6 steel plates down in just over 6 seconds (FYI: that is well over double the time of the winner of that shoot). That would be the same as making the 2 x 5 “figure 11 head" shots in just over 10 seconds with all scoring hits 4 or 5 points each -- lets say 8 hits with 4 points each and 2 misses = 32 points (instead of the zero I did with the darn Glock model 22).

Then again... I may just continue doing what I am doing ;-)

it was a fun day all around, just need to fix the sights on my pistol and i think i should be ok for the pistol shots... found it weird that we shot as a team but scored as individuals :s

A big thanks to Tim and Barney for an excellent match, and thanks to all the guys that helped out.

It was my first try at CQB and I have to say that it was too much fun, I'm officially hooked!

Looking forward to the next match!

Oh, forgot to say thanks to IDPAconvert for the excellent BBQ!!

Thanks Plink, glad it didn't rain on you guys, see you all in July.

PS. I will be there for 7:00am on July 17th, so Guy's, don't forget to let me know in advance, what accessories to bring for you, this way you won't be disappointed.

Cheers!
Bill
