I can hardly wait. Sounds like it will be fun and very challenging. I am expecting to get somewhat confused by and forgetful of the course of fire for each match. I'll probably adjust my scope the wrong way for windage and distance a couple of times. That is part of the learning curve and I expect to curse/laugh myself quite a bit. I also expect the hear a couple of snickers from the peanut gallery. Especially Tim K.

My gear selection will be my best guess and likely far from perfect. I expect to reliably hit the back berm on every shot, and hopefully the middle of the target will be somewhere near my trajectory. Any intersection of my bullets path with the middle of the target will be somewhat random and governed purely by chance.

All it all it should be a really fun day, with no pressure to perform except what I put on myself.

My only concern is that to date there is only one DM match scheduled this year but.....baby steps baby, baby steps.

If this event turns into the success I expect, it will become a regular event.

Hungry

Quick question (I know you covered this on the weekend but my memory is getting weak in my old age LOL)

Post #1 says we need enough mags to complete the match. Does that mean we need a dozen mags or will there be time to bomb up as we go through?

If so, will we be doing that on the move or will there be time between matches.

If we are bombing on the move I either have to get more mags or add a sling swivel on my rifle so I can get two hands free while moving.

Can ya help a newbi out without giving too much away?

I think it was said by Tim, that you must carry everything you need. Aside from that you had options. You could carry a dozen mags bombed up and do that or your could carry two mags and reload as you go, it is up to you and how you want to play it. Basically he was leaving it to the competitor to decide.

Personally, I would just maintain about 2 to 3 magazines and bomb up along the way. I am that fast. :ninja: Stay very organized, work deliberately and quickly, don't get too rattled by the time constraints! :D

If there was ever a reason to scope an M14, it would be this match.
If there was ever a reason to buy a 2nd M14, it would be this match. :p
I love this match.

Wish I could attend...so many things happening at the same time I'm afraid that I won't be part of this. Hope you guys get enough people in time.

Hey guys and gals, pre-registration is required for this event and numbers are bleak. If there is not enough interest they might have to cancel the event. That would suck large.

Get in touch with Hungry and EMT him your registration ASAP.

That is too bad, this event sounds awesome! Unfortunately I have to be away on business or I would be there with bells on. The course of fire is exactly what I am interested in! I hope it works out. I was hoping for more events next year!

Aaaaaarrrrggghhh!!!! Borden is so friggin' far from MTL! I'm going to have to plan the next time you do this Hungry. I cannot participate on June 5th. I'm already committed to a 3 gun match, and yes...with my M14.

Can you give us the skinny on how the match(es) play out. I have no clue how it works compared to Service Rifle.

I'll be there :D. Is anyone else going to try these new SR matches out? I think it's great that Hungry and Tim keep thinking up new challenges for us. I'll hopefully see many of you SR shooters there on the 5th of June (Vimy range).

Only thing keeping me from trying this DM match is my only eligible rifle is iron sights only.
Tempted to do it with irons if only to boost attendance to express interest in such a cool match.

I will be attending the DM match :) I will bring an M14 & M16, just in case there is an opportunity to shoot it two times ;-) I think I will attempt it using the M14, even if that does put me at a disadvantage, because I don't think there is another opportunity like this to use a bipod in a service conditions match.

Thank you for pointing out that I had the wrong sling attached to my M14, Hungry ;)

Hey, a Lee Enfield sling could be considered on step up from a suit case strap LOL.

Just got a "real" M14 sling in the mail earlier today...

Earlier this week, I also received a Brunton Echo Zoom Monocular 10-30x21 Pocketscope. It fits perfectly into a smoke gernade pouch :) However, it has a very small field of view and cannot really be used above 10x power without using a mini tripod to stabalize it (perhaps they sell cheap mini tripods in the dollar shop).

produce a really darn good rifle and it should be really interesting using the rifle I got from them in this upcoming DM match (2nd rifle from the top, in image below)
