Service Rifle course for beginners.

Thanks everyone.

Honestly, neither me or the rifle is ready yet. This is my first rifle and is essentially brand new. Barely has 100 rounds through it. I have the odd FTF that still needs to be sorted out. Been to the range with it once and Olds got her sighted.

I'm not confident in my self or in my kit yet, never mind a match. I'm embarrassed to say that I just need more trigger time to understand all the bits better and sort the issues out.

Thanks for all the encouragement.

Come out and give it a go... doesn't matter if your kit and/or yourself is ready yet. The sooner you start getting comfortable with it the sooner you'll enjoy yourself. I started with a #4mk1 just to see if I liked it, didn't do that well but thought it was fun so I started shooting more and up grading.

Thanks everyone.

If you want to learn to swim in the ocean you're gonna need a.....???

dude, go to the shoot, if I wasn't working I'd be there. It doesn't matter what ability you are at, nor what your gun is doing. Get out, meet these guys, have some fun, and learn at the same time. If your gun goes down, someone will either fix it, or lend you theirs.

edited to add,
ahhhhhh the cameraman is downrange, ahhhhh safety violantion!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh.

There is NOTHING to be embarassed about. We were all there at some point!I'm gonna tell you the same thing again!Come out!You won't be sorry I promise. And if you don't,when you finally do, your going to kick yourself for not coming out sooner.
The only person you compete against in service rifle is yourself.Other shooters have zero influence on your shooting. You will make mistakes. We all do.But then there's that shoot where everything goes pretty good and you shoot your record score. That's the pay off.NOT beating everyone else.

I believe there will be a good number of first timers this year.Where else can you shoot at targets that are only up for 3 seconds or run 100m and then shoot?Or shoot back to 500m?I have all the dope for zeros back to 500m which I will gladly give you so you'll at least be on paper. Then the rest is up to you to fine tune it.
There are no egos out there at all.Put your pride away and just come out and have some fun!I'll by you a beer and some peel and eat shrimp at the Jolly Miller afterwards ;) .

No thoughts so far but I'm open to suggestions! The main trouble is finding somewhere to run it.I think Mission sounds like a great place to run one.Hopefully thier exec will be able to understand that its just not a bunch of guys blazing away. Its guys that are serious about thier shooting skills and looking for a challenge.I wonder if Ante has made any headway up there?

Hey Ryan, any thoughts to running a part deux for those that did your clinic last spring to continue learning and pick up some additional skills and practice?

Sorry guys I just got back from a months shooting in Ottawa.I'd love to run another course but finding a place to run it is the problem.Anyone know what happening at Mission? It would be the perfect place.

I am also a member of Abby and interested in this. My main club I go to is TMSA, and go to Mission with bolt actions only. I think TMSA's 100 yard rifle range with 4 additional (new) pads would be best. Lots of space and more in the middle of everything compared to Abby.

I tried to get one happening at TMSA but they wern't very receptive. The only way it can happen at Abby is if we use the last sunday of the month and that is only by invitation.Mission or nights at POCO would be the easiest.
