service rifle Ottawa

I know a few of us from Montreal, QC really enjoyed coming up and participate but looks like it's all gone to hell...
Sounds like a lot of big heads, too many egos and infighting are happening behind the scenes, people settling scores so to speak?
Maybe politics as well, trying to kill the sport for civilians?
So bizarre how divided we are...one thing for sure when they ban more guns we will all be together in that!

I enjoyed having the Montreal crew come to those shoots. We had a good thing going. I was quite pissed at the ORA change to its guest policy because I knew this would screw over your group in particular. Fortunately it wasn't a mass group or series of things that killed these Ottawa shoots - just one person who wouldn't pass the torch and an organization that didn't care about losing its handful of members in Ottawa area. I say fortunate because the range is still here, the Ottawa shooters I've spoken with are all keen to help out, the foundation is here to start it back up. We just need a gun club that wants it.

Keep me posted!

Hi guys. Just moved to Ottawa, and looking to take up servic rife. I've read through this thread and (no offence) I'm just not sure who to talk to to get started. Could someone give me a vector?

Contact the NCRRA. There likely won't be any matches between now and next spring but you can get it on the practices throughout the fall and winter. There are a few of us who are going to try and revive the SR program through NCRRA/NDHQRA next year.

This would be great, hopefully still be able to shoot with the CF guys as well as that made it all the more enjoyable! After things went downhill a couple years ago I lost interest and did not even bother renewing my ORA membership. I'd love to help out if I had the time and my hours coincided with Connaught's SR during the week but that won't change for a few years yet. If the matches get going again I'll definitely be able to help with the Friday setups.

I'm in Ottawa too. Shot a SR and a Long range match a few years ago but it's always seemed hard to find into on events happening in Ottawa. Please keep us posted!

NDHQRA/NCRRA are planning on running 3-4 matches this year. Check out ncrra.ca for entry forms for the first few. PRA membership required.

Cheers,

Scott

Scott what is happening with these matches? Are they still requiring civilians to pay $25 more than the reservists plus join a PRA for the year as well? Serge doesn't set two prices and require membership for the Victoria Day TR shoot he holds every year. Same range - can't see this being about insurance.

Entry forms for the June and July matches are on the NCRRA website. At this point shooters who are not working for the CAF or police agency (i.e. issued kit, etc.) while competing would need to be members of their PRA.

Not sure what you're getting at with the TR match, participants in all NCRRA-hosted matches are expected to be members of their PRA in order to participate.
