I have 1961 MC Mannlicher Shoenauer that is missing the double trigger set adjustment screw (the one between the two triggers).

The hole is perfect with no damage to the threads.

I have tried 1.7mm (too small) and 2.5mm fine thread (same as "normal" metric machine screws)
the 2.5 was almost perfect fit but is not it as it will not catch.

I have tried every fine (various pitches) thread SAE I can find to no avail.....

Would these possibly be an English thread???

or does anyone happen to know what the thread is so I can go and get the proper screw???

Thanks so much

First try reducing the major diameter of the 2.5 screw as the original tapping may have been done with an undesize tap GH1 instead of a GH3 to allow for a friction fit. An alternate solution is to retap for a similar size screw. 1961 screw standardization sizes, forms and types were not universal. But having worked with both germans and english toolmakers I think we can rule out english whitworth threads!! There is a third possibility, there was at the time a set of threads that was common on bicycles and european motorbikes, all the best art

thanks for the info - I will try the reduced diameter approach and continue the search.

The rifle is mint and it would be a shame to alter it. if I cant figure it out, i will find a screw from a "beater" mannlicher and use it and re-tap the beater.
