I did receive the replacement today. It is in very much the same shape as yours. It is parkerized except for the but plate which is painted. This is very much what I expected for $200. Have not stripped it down yet but if the outside is any indication then the inside should be just fine.
TENDA did a really good job, and I do now feel bad for over-reacting a wee little bit.

Many refurbs are now coming in looking like that (good stock - bad metal, or the opposite) but the average refurb is better looking than that.
Give us your opinion of the SKS after you have spent a couple of hours shooting, perhaps also participate in the "100 meter SKS accuracy challenge"
I stripped her down. All metal has matching numbers. It honestly looks like they but new steel in an old stock which they let sit in the barn for a few years. There is some superficial rust in a few spots but nothing where it matters.
I will try to get out to 100 this weekend. Don't know if I will go corrosive or not, will have to see if I can pick up some clean supplies first if I shoot the corrosive stuff

Huzzah!!! This was the result I was hoping for.
Any vendor can make a mistake. it's how they respond to it that separates the good ones from the bad. Glad to see they made it right.
I dunno, the stock is beat, rest looks average. I bought 4 from Tradex when they first got them in $179 (2x early, 2x late), they varied from heavy to light refurb, but condition was excellent at least, no rust at all.
One thing odd with that batch was the amount of sand in the bolt carriers/recoil spring guides.....like packed.
