SG-542 ERE Elite Rifle Issues

Good News!!!

I brought the rifle to the range today, and fed it 125 rounds of 7.62x51 Norinco non-corrosive steel case.

The rifle worked like a dream. No malfunctions, no magazine issues.

Thanks everyone for your input! Also a shout-out to North Sylva for the timely warranty service.

Great to hear!!!

I am getting one in a few months (on layaway) so I am trying to eat up as much info as I can on it.

How was the accuracy with the norc ammo? I have heard that "standard/surplus" ammo (150ish grain) shoots meh and the gun prefers heavier ammo due to the slower barrel twist.

Haven't really tested for accuracy...I don't have a rig or scope. I have just been casually shooting it standing up at 25m. I had absolutely no problem making a 6 inch group with 100 rounds shooting about 90rnds/min (I was more concerned with the function today). The diopter sights really help. I let the barrel cool a bit and took my time with the last 25 shots. Ate out the entire middle 1in bullseye. So about 4moa standing with that ammo.

Wouldn't be surprised if the right ammo was used, heavier grain bullet with a bipod or rig, this rifle would be around 1 moa.
