Had the sig at the range today and had a ton of light strikes. Slide in battery, hammer at full #### and just a click. Cocked the hammer again by hand and every round detonated. Any ideas? Gave it a thorough clean and oiled the firing pin, hope that fixes it. It was freshly cleaned going to the range.
 
I've had that happen with my GSG. I just thought it was the ammo because it generally happens when I shoot ammo I know the pistol doesn't like as much. What ammo are you using?
 
Same thing happened with me with winchester super X (or what ever they are called). A couple with CCI blazers (in a 1000 rounds). Maybe one with the mini mags and never with stingers. I do the same I #### the hammer again and it fires. If I clear the unfired round I notice that there isn't a mark on the rim of the case so the pin never hit at all. I'm starting to think that the slide is ever so slightly out of battery.

Do you have any issues with failing to chamber a round when you've notice it happening?
 
hmm maybe it is the firing pin
i have 8000+ through my GSG and had no problems with it at all
i have had to replace nothing at all (BTW the GSG and SIG are the same gun save markings and grips)
i just clean it every range trip and or at about 500 rounds
i had it start to light strike once when i got to around 900 rounds through it in a day took it home cleaned it and then it was as it was when it was new
when i clean it i make sure that i spray out the firing pin block really well from both ends with break-clean and then follow that up with some G96 and it works perfectly
 
Hhhhmmmmmm........g96. 8500 rounds through mine and going strong.... All I've done so far is replace the zink guide rod......

I'm not familiar with the GSG. Do they have a firing pin safety? If yes, I would bet it is the safety plunger which lets the firing pin go past it, as the hammer strickes.
I have a Tanfoglio Match with a conversion kit. On my conversion kit I had the same things happened as mentioned. I dismantled the slide, removed firing pin and safety plunger, and found out that the notch in the plunger was machined slightly off. I noticed slight peening marks on one side of the notch in the plunger where the firing pin struck. That means, the firing pin struck the safety plunger first, bounce off it and just barely dent the rim on the cartridge. The interference was just enough to slow the firing pin down on the way to the cartridge. I fixed it with a few strokes with a needle file. Never had a problem since. If you can't do it your self, bring it to a gunsmith and have him check it out.

i use 2 similar products for cleaning
both are one step solvent and oils both will remove lead copper wad and powder fouling
the first is G96 in a spray can
and the second is pro-shot products 1 step gun cleaner and lubricant non-spray
both do a great job of getting the guns clean and ready to use again
and i use the break clean first because it is pressurized and will remove any oil or lubricant that has trapped powder residue then follow that up with the G96 for the firing pin block because it is pressurized
