To limit all rifles to five rounds as in, to level the playing field...just a guess on my part.

Why the 5 round mag rule for carbine?

My guess is that the organizers don't want to have a whole bunch of divisions for the many different rifles out there ie; the Berreta Storm(10rnd capacity) SKS (5rnd cap.) Marlin 336 in .38 (10+rnd cap.) AR-15 (5 or 10rnd cap.) etc etc etc.......

Yes it's 5rds only to level the play field to those who do not have an AR-15, Beretta Storm or people with AR15 who do not have the 10rd mags.

Plus the 5/30 rounders fit my chest rig better.

Sucks if he needs to reload as you need to reload to max capacity. Load up 10 rounds to shoot 2 and then make safe
