I am mulling over a replica 1874 or a replica 1885 Highwall. Calibre would be 45-70. I would want the Creedmore style rear sight and front (barrel?) sight with interchangeable inserts. I am looking at a lower end Pedersoli 32 inch bbl.

I kind of like the 1885 better but the 1874 has more cool factor.

Thoughts advice. Just a toy no serious target matches or anything.

Ar you planning on shooting black powder or smokeless?
The Sharps tears down effortlessly anywhere for cleaning or inspection, the 1885 is another kettle of fish.
I shoot both as well as Rugers, but the Sharps action is the only one I shoot BP with for that reaason.

Looking at the current Winchester offerings of the 1885 it is more a modern rifle, bottle necked cartridges where the Sharps is more a 45-70 and up rifle. So I guess I am more interested in the sharps copies than the 1885. More like a Ruger No. 1 I guess.

I have the Pedersoli 1885 High Wall Classic, 32" long barrel, rifle is excellent, fit and finish and great shooter, the set trigger is a little light for me, but just have not taken the time to adjust it. I originally put Lee Shavers Soule sights on it but changed to Malcolm 32" long scope

I just purchased an Uberti 1885 off Prophet Rivers. Curious as to how much those scopes cost.

I bought it from Lockhart tactical, I think with mounts and scope it was around 800. PM me if you want further info. I looked at the Uberti, since I have 3 other Uberti's but didn't like the crescent butt, Pedersoli has a shotgun butt, also it appears the Pedersoli makes the receiver for the Uberti.

Thanks, love the scope but not sure I want to spend that kinda dough on a sub 2g rifle. Maybe one day if I get a Shiloh or C Sharps.

Yes, Uberti, and Winchester both have it with the crescent butt. Shouldn't be a problem for me, hasn't in the past.

I think I like the 1885 more than the 1874, I just don't like the big hammer. And Pedersoli makes both. I want the 45-70 calibre and I want the Creedmore type sights. I want the long barrel not the carbine version. Logic says buy the Winchester 1885 in a modern calibre like 270 Win. So many choices and turds wants to take away all our guns. So sad...
