Shell Holders

Hi

Just going to pick up a Hornady Cam Lock Trimmer. Can I use my Lee shell holders in it? My understanding is that all shell holders are universal (with the exception of auto primers then they will be manufacturer specific).

Just trying to avoid buying excess equipment here, which I have done a few times already (i.e my Lee press quick trim and dies).

You'll need the hornady ones. Different hole size.

It might work with other brands for some calibre but it'll be by total luck.

There are a few vids on You Tube that discuss this.
The answer is that you CANNOT use just any shell holder with the Hornady Cam Lock Trimmer. The reason that you have to use the Hornady shell holder is because the hole is larger, which allows for the cam lock rod to fit through.

If it's anything like the old style Hornady trimmer, some will work and some won't. Mine will take Redding and RCBS shellholder like nothing, and some Lees. Some Lees are a bit snugger and some work just as well as anything else. Same thing with the RCBS Hand primer as far as that goes.

I wouldn't rule out it working before you try it. I believe that the later built Lees are bigger than early ones.

Could also take a drill and expand the hole a bit. It's not like a lee shellholder is very expensive anyway.
