Has anyone had success changing poi of a sxs 10 ga by filing the muzzle?
I had a so called gunsmith butcher my barrels now the left barrel shoots a foot to the right at 40 yards.
Or is it best to just ream it out even more an hopethe next guy can center the reamer

I'd have to say the best thing is to not touch it and start researching competent smiths who can fix the mess.

I can't see where filing will help, probably just make a bad situation worse.

Send it to Weber and Markin or Chris Wilcox in BC. Google Weber and Markin and Wilcox Gunworks for contact information. Both are experienced gunsmiths that have the equipment and knowledge on how to regulate those barrels for POI.

I've fixed a cheap sxs by filing the muzzle but it was a cheap Spanish sxs that if I messed up I could cut down. It worked quite well actually.
The Smith who said he had experience wit 10 ga reaming really butchered my muzzles. I was told that cutting marks left in the barrel are common.
I will look into any one that has a proven record of dealing with 10 ga guns even if I have to have more open chokes

You didn't say what the "butchering" involved but if it was shortening the barrels then you may have inadvertently changed the way the gun recoils and that can change the POI even if the muzzles were squared off perfectly. Any change of POI for the right barrel?

I had the chokes opened from full to mod. The right barrel patterns great. The muzzles look and feel as if they were almost threaded for chokes. Run a finger nail on the inside and you can feel the clicks with your nail. It's not smooth at all

The left barrel shoots a foot to the right isn't likely the muzzle. Unless that muzzle isn't flat and square. Look at that and how the barrels are joined.
Cutting marks left in the barrel are common is nonsense. It's kind of thing is why you need a smithy who has proven experienced with regulating doubles.
