Well, the paperwork is all in place and I am officially an authorised Shilen Barrel Dealer:dancingbanana:

Please look for my post in the Parts EE for full details on available products and pricing. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=277408

I look forward to bringing in other products like Bullets, Scopes, Triggers, Brass, some dies and accessories. Just waiting for the proper paperwork to get settled which should happen in the next month or so.

My goal is to offer difficult to find items catering to the Precision shooter. Great pricing and availability is my goal.

I look forward to doing business with you...

Congratulations, Jerry. We need more availability in the Canadian market. Best of fortune to you.

Good luck with your venture - your prices seem really good; so I may be hitting you up for a .308 cal bbl in the future. Now in keeping with the other threads I have seen, I should start accusing you of not really being in the business of bringing barrels in or go off on a ridiculous tangent about the quality of said barrel versus some other manufacture.

If you guys think these barrels are going to cause financial problems, wait until I get the rest of my paperwork in place.

Christmas is coming.......

Glock, the first batch of barrels will not show up till next year so you have a few months of ranting :)

I am sure they will shoot just fine.

Are you going to put a website up to to advertise what's in stock, credit card purchases, etc or just keep it on the EE?

For now, just on the EE. Learning a bit about HTML code to build my own site. I will keep next to no inventory because of the thousands of possible options. I might get a few Savage barrels in popular chamberings like 223, 308 and 6BR but that is down the road a ways.

For the other items, I intend to bring in orders on a monthly basis so the wait is never more then a few weeks. Inventory is horrendously expensive and you never know what people want. So by having quick turnaround from my distributors (just in time inventory), I can save alot in shipping/handling and pass that savings onto you.

Sure beats the norm now which is website full of wonderful stuff, nothing in inventory or 'at our other store', then having to wait for many months in hopes someone remembers your request for an item...

Well Done Jerry and I wish you all the very best in your venture. You are a terrific ambassador for shooting and it is excellent to have a Candian source for the goodies you will be handling! (BTW, I am one of Jerry's customers!!:))

I am thrilled to see a source for these pre-chambered barrels because the demand is there. Shilen are a fine button-rifled barrel and they have been quite successful in benchrest and F-Class circles. There is plenty of room for another barrel choice... this is win-win on so many levels!!

All the very best Jerry, but I can hardly wait for the great Shilen-Krieger shoot-off at the next Farky!

Even Shilen is a bit vague in their answer. The only difference is that the match barrel allows for slightly more variance in the bore dimensions. A very slight increase in variance. 3 thou vs 1 thou over the entire length - air guaged.

Some argue that this can lead to these barrels shooting a schnick larger groups. Still very good but not hummers.

Shilen themselves tell of examples where customers have reported these barrels shot superbly. As good as their super match barrels. A few even better.

So no one really knows. It is not quantifiable.

ALL BR quality barrel makers really try hard to make the best barrel they can because they know the owner will use it for a very important purpose. Their business depends on this cause no news spreads faster then bad news.

Why are there hummers? Survey any barrel maker and no one will know for sure how these barrels came to be. Because if they did, there would only be ONE barrel maker.

If I were to choose a barrel for match/competition shooting, I would pay the extra few dollars and go supermatch. Will it make a difference? Nothing else, it eliminates one source of doubt.

And that is what really helps give you the confidence to hold into the 8 ring to adjust for a change in wind.

Ian, appreciate the comments. MORE better....

Jerry, I think you meant to say 3 -10 thousanths vs 1- 10thousanths ove the entire length. 3 thou vs 1 thou would be quite a large variance.....Ken
