Shimming a scope

I think I already know the answer but I thought I'd ask .
I just was given a Near 3 ring Alphamount LD34mm mount.
From what I have read these are high quality mounts .
Only problem is I have no 34mm scopes , I would like to use this on a Springfield M1A
I have several 30 mm scopes that would fit the bill .
Can you shim a 30mm scope in a 34mm ring mount ?
I know there are shims to use 1" scopes in 30mm rings .

It sounds doable. If you could source the shims, but I'm no expert.

Can and should are very different thibgs .. all the 30mm - 1" shims if seen have a little lip that sits outside the ring to prevent sliding and are specific to the rings . I'm not.sure how this would.be doable with a near alpha mount with the double ring up front ... Perhaps email Richard himself as he's very helpful and great to deal.with
